Easel
A Dreamy Folk Pop Ballad
about Longing for a Different Ending.
by manyface music
Easel was written during a quiet moment that didn’t feel quiet at all.
I was with family after everything had fallen apart, just sitting there, trying to process it…and I found myself staring at the paintings on the wall.
They were simple scenes.
Couples under umbrellas. Cafes. Boats drifting through quiet canals. Nothing dramatic or loud. Just peaceful.
I remember thinking…
why does it look so easy there?
Why do those versions of love feel so still, and certain. So untouched by everything that makes real life complicated.
"How nice it would be, to live in our paintings."

Easel Lyrics - Manyface Music
[Chorus]
How nice it would be,
To live in our paintings.
[Verse 1]
Under umbrellas,
And in Cafe’s,
Sipping coffee,
At tables just for two.
[Verse 2]
Sailing down,
Canals in unnamed towns,
In boats,
On benches,
With a view.
[Chorus]
How nice it would be,
To live in our paintings.
[Verse 3]
Over bridges,
And down lamplit streets,
As dawn,
With the flick of her brush,
Paints a golden yellow hue.
[Verse 4]
Buzzing street,
Where we meet,
Holding hands,
No real plans,
Just walk beneath,
This perfect shade of blue.
[Outro]
So let us linger,
In this painting here a few,
Just me and you.
How nice it would be.
