Bourbon Eyes

Bourbon Eyes

A Country Song about Love, Distance, and Gravity.

by manyface music

Bourbon Eyes started with a feeling that I think a lot of people have probably felt. Meeting someone new who becomes a light in your life when you need it.

There’s a weird magnetism to feeling like just you is enough, a gravity to it.

It’s almost intoxicating. And you come to see that person in a soft and golden light, like sun shining through a bottle of bourbon.

And afterwards, you start to wonder if that light only happens the first time you see them.

It doesn’t.

It happens time and time again, and every time the sunlight catches their eyes you are lost again – floating through endless space, and praying that gravity finds a way to keep you from drifting apart.

"Made it halfway across the universe, and I ain't seen nothing quite like you."

Bourbon Eyes Lyrics - Manyface Music

					[Verse 1]
I walked across the moon,
just to try and get to you.
Kicked off into painted space,
but the stars don't seem to shine up here without you.
So I hitch a ride on a comet tail,
and pray that when I fall, I fall toward you.

[Chorus]
I swear every time I see you,
it's like the first time -
soft and golden.
And the sun leans in,
just to get a chance
to light those bourbon eyes.

[Verse 2]
I swam through pools of stars,
just to try and get to you.
Made it halfway across the universe,
and I ain't seen nothing quite like you.
So I float across constellations,
and pray this current carries me back to you.

[Chorus]
I swear every time I see you,
it's like the first time -
soft and golden.
And the sun leans in,
just to get a chance
to light those bourbon eyes.

[Bridge]
And maybe all this wandering
ain’t about the stars above -
maybe every mile I fall
is just the gravity of love.
’Cause something in the way you shine
pulls me closer to the truth
I ain’t falling from the sky tonight…
I’m falling straight for you.

[Refrain]
Oooo Oooo

[Chorus]
I swear every time I see you,
it's like the first time -
soft and golden.

[Outro]
But this time -
I let gravity have it's way,
let all the things around me fade,
and as I'm fallin' through the darkness,
Oooo Oooo...
I see the sunlight in your bourbon eyes, and it leads me back to you.
