Building for Ethics

After nearly a year of writing and protecting my music… and with a public launch not far away, I needed to build a streamlined way to ensure what I have produced so far (a library of 77 songs across 6 albums and 2 EPs) is ethical and does not infringe on any existing work. One of my biggest fears as an independent technology forward artist is accidentally releasing something that sounds too much like an existing song. If I did so well intentioned is not enough for me, it’s important that I do everything in my power to respect the work of other artists.

So, I built a thing, backed by open-source other things 🙂 so that I can scan my entire discography to look for infringement across various instruments within a song, as well as the instrumentals as a whole, and track those scans over time as I work on improvements to this tool. My goal is to continue to produce music at this rate, and I think this automation is a step in the right direction towards doing that.
