Medusa

Medusa

A Survivor Anthem about Reclaiming Power.

by manyface music

Medusa is inspired by a story that most people think they already understand.

A monster…with a face you’re not supposed to look at.

But when you look closer at the myth of Medusa, it becomes something more complicated than that. It’s not just a story about what she became…it’s a story about what was taken from her – and how the world chose to define her after.

That idea became the foundation for this song. Because sometimes a story gets told so many times, people stop questioning it. They accept the label without asking how it got there. This song lives in the space where identity is reclaimed. Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…

is refuse to be who they said you were.

"There's still the pain, but no more fear. She knows she's not the monster here."

Medusa Lyrics - Manyface Music

					[Verse 1]
She glides - to the rhythm of the night,
In this Holy place she finds - peace and often hides,
But tonight -
There's a warning within -
this cold that meets her skin.
Still she finds herself surprised,
by the beast that's lurking right outside.
There's a burning in her throat that's new,
As the world fades away - into a blurry point-of-view.
And the oil burns - like watchful eyes.
But her God above ignores her cries.
No man should ever recognize those eyes...
That child is no Medusa.

[Chorus]
So turn to stone - right where you stand.
The face you fear - was made by man.
Cuz no God would ever lay a hand,
or do those ungodly things he wanted to.
Tell me, if she's the monster -
what does that make you?
I know she's more than your touch -
That child - is more than just Medusa.

[Verse 2]
She slides - to the rhythm of the night,
In this Unholy place and hides,
Cuz tonight -
In the mirrors here she cries,
Cannot help but just despise -
the beast that's lurking right outside -
every time she closes her own eyes.
She curses to a God that lied -
looking up to ask her why,
And tries -
not to wish that she had died.
That child...is no Medusa.

[Bridge]
So let them come -
She will not run.
She's already begun to face herself.
There's still the pain - but no more fear.
She knows she's not the monster here.
So for the first time...
she can finally rest.

[Chorus]
So turn to stone - right where you stand.
The face you fear - was made by man.
Cuz no God would ever lay their hand.
or do those ungodly things he wanted to.
Tell me, if she was the monster -
what does that make you?

[Outro]
Now she glides -
as a spirit through the night.
She will never hide.
This child...
Was more than just...
Medusa.
