Sleeping Hollow

Sleeping Hollow

An Alt Pop Ballad about Being Haunted.

by manyface music

Sleeping Hollow came from that place where moving on doesn’t feel linear…

it feels like you’re stuck in a loop.

The same thoughts. The same memories. the same feeling hitting you all over again, like  it never left.

There’s a part of separation that can sometimes feel like a nightmare. Where even when you know it’s for the better and want them to be gone, they’re not. They show up in dreams. In silence. In the empty space where they used to be… and it can feel like being haunted.

That’s where the imagery in this song comes from.

Repurposing imagery from the classic story of Sleepy Hollow, to tell the story of how sometimes the absence or hollow feeling left in the wake of someone can haunt you worse than any nightmare.

"Your love became the noose I wear. I feel it pull, I gasp for air."

Sleeping Hollow Lyrics - Manyface Music

					[Verse 1]
Eyes flutter,
we're going down,
going down in haunted sound.
The moon dissolves into my breath,
the sheets grow colder than regret,
as the mist kisses my skin,
then descends upon this town.
Suddenly my lungs forget the feel of air -
you're everywhere, you're everywhere,
and we're back in Sleeping Hollow.

[Chorus]
Every night, the horseman rides,
down the valley of my spine,
I try to move, am paralyzed -
first my head, and then my mind go - oh,
why am I trapped in Sleeping Hollow?

[Verse 2]
Windows cry in silver lines,
candles whisper of demise,
but the horse outside,
just stomps the ground,
like this heartbeat,
that I can't slow down.
Suddenly my heart remembers you're not there -
you're nowhere, you're nowhere,
and we're back in Sleeping Hollow.

[Chorus]
Every night, the horseman rides,
down the valley of my spine,
I try to move, am paralyzed -
first my head, and then my mind go - oh,
why am I trapped in Sleeping Hollow?

[Bridge]
Your love became,
the noose I wear,
I feel it pull,
I gasp for air,
and suddenly -
you're there, you're there.

[Outro]
But in Sleeping Hollow, I remain,
half in love, half insane,
You ride the curve of every breath,
dragging my soul down to death,
oh, but I suppose that's how the story goes -
forever Sleeping Hollow.
