This Persephone

This Persephone

An Alt-Rock Survivor Anthem.

by manyface music

This Persephone was inspired by the ancient myth of Persephone, but more than anything, it’s about what that story represents.

At its core, Persephone’s story isn’t just about descent.

It’s about what happens after.

About being taken out of the life you knew, placed somewhere you never chose, and having to figure out how to survive in it.

That idea stuck with me.

The things that happen in life can sometimes reverberate. Sometimes you’re forced into environments, emotions, or versions of yourself that you never would have chosen.

And at first, it feels like loss : of light, of safety…of who you were before.

But Persephone’s story doesn’t end with loss.

She doesn’t stay powerless. She adapts. She endures. And eventually…she becomes something more than what happened to her.

"Now she takes her place upon the throne, abandoning all she's ever known."

This Persephone Lyrics - Manyface Music

					[Verse 1]
She was a Child of the Light,
a Daughter of Nature's Might.
Then he emerged,
With a mind bent sharp by evil deeds,
On a chariot of midnight stees
And she was hurled -
Into The Underworld.

[Chorus]
Now she takes her place -
upon the throne.
Abandoning all she's ever known.
And is marked -
As Ruler of the Dark.

[Verse 2]
Yeah, she's lost forever to the Night,
but she doesn't give in to her plight.
And she survives-
Her mind bent sharp by evil deeds,
as he offers her the blood red seeds,
Her mind declines -
But then,
it redefines, what that means -
and she struggles with herself daily.
Trapped in this Hell,
that wasn't her own making.

[Chorus]
Now she takes her place -
upon the throne.
Abandoning all she's ever known.
And though she's marked -
As Ruler of the Dark,

[Outro]
She remarks -
that if she must wear the mark of all this dark,
then she will be the Queen of all she sees.
Ruler of her own Underworld -
A Goddess...This Persephone.
